Tickets for Wiesbaden

Wiesbaden
Wiesbaden is one of the best places in the world to enjoy all the good things this world has to offer. Wiesbaden has an awesome concert going population. Wiesbaden does not lag behind in Sports or Theater either. Located in southwest Germany, Wiesbaden is the capital of the state of Hesse. It was founded by Romans about 2000 years ago and was called "Acquae Mattiacorum" or the "springs of the Mattiaci", because of the local German tribe of this area. No other German city represents as distinct and versatile a history as Wiesbaden. With the churches, official buildings, residences, entire streets of houses and residential quarters, villa districts and parks, all style phases from the early 19th century to 1918 are represented. The numerous bathhouses and inns in the city ensured a lively and thriving trade in health tourism. There are also countless small pubs, clubs and other places for a night out. International places are everywhere because Wiesbaden has lots of international travelers as well as a major US Army base.

Getting Here
Many flights come to the Frankfurt International Airport. From there visitors will require a train ride or a 50 Euro taxi. Getting around Wiesbaden is very simple. The bus system is very easy to understand and if you need any help almost everyone speaks English. At main bus stops there are tickets machines where you can buy tickets for one hour, one day or buy them in bulk which will get you four tickets.

Things to Do in Wiesbaden

Spas & Wellness Centers
Due to its 26 hot springs and their therapeutic effects people have been coming to Wiesbaden to cure their health and take advantage of the many spas and hot springs of the city since Roman times. In late 1880s Wiesbaden took the title, 'World Spa City' and by 1905 already topped the 100.000 inhabitant mark- by 200.000 (Spa) guests per year. The enclosed historical landmarks developed at that time survived the bombings of World War Two with relatively small losses.

The charm of the former imperial residence or world-class spa resort is today still very much in evidence. Today you could find numerous spas and wellness centers offering generous indoor- and outdoor-pools, sauna landscape as well as numerous massages, alternative medical treatments and other spa services. Among the spas, the Emperor Frederic Thermal bath is a must do while you are there! This spacious and fascinating sauna landscape surrounding the historic Irish-Roman bath covers a total of 1,450 square meters. Originally opened in 1913, the bathing palace was lovingly restored.

Historical Sites
Wiesbaden offers many examples of outstanding historical architecture including the Biebrich Palace and the Freudenberg Palace not far from the city centre, not to mention the Jagdschloss Platte, the partially restored royal hunting lodge with a spectacular view of the Rhine valley, and many other monuments of marvelous architecture. You may also take a bike and go up from Wiesbaden-Biebrich down to Ruedesheim along the river Rhine. You will pass some of the most beautiful spots like old castles and dramatic views of the Rhine valley and wineyards. Just take a break and go up to the Vollrad Castle that offers a perfect cuisine coupled with a marvelous view.

Two prominent landmarks of downtown Wiesbaden are the "new" City Hall (Neues Rathaus), built from 1884 to 1887. It was badly damaged by bombs in February 1945, and subsequently re-built in a simpler form in 1951. On the ground floor of the city hall there is usually a free art exhibition of some sort, dealing mainly with Wiesbaden or one of its partner cities. The other site is the protestant Market Church (Marktkirche), which was built from 1852 to 1862.

The Kurhaus is a beautiful building, erected in neo-classical style. Visit the famous Casino there. The history of the casino goes back to the 17th century. Famous guests like Fjodor Dostojewsky who lost a fortune here are legendary. Also the autograph wall of Kaefer's within the Casino where famous stars from over the world left autographs over decades is a place to see.

Parks & Gardens
Besides offering a unique architecture, Wiesbaden also has extensive parks and green areas as well as proximity to the River Rhine. Devotedly cared for green oases, green spaces and tree-lined boulevards spread throughout the city repeatedly surprise visitors and are a balm to the tired eyes. Mount Nero and the Nero Valley with 1000 year old oak trees, the Kurhouse and surrounding parks are really the very heart of Wiesbaden. The Bowling Green is a small square in front of the State Theater, with a pond and two fountains. In the summer you can see people playing boules here, and in the winter they build an ice-skating rink in the center of the square going right across the pond.

For family outings, Wiesbaden also has a wide range of different choices. With an area of 18 hectares, the Fasanerie Zoo and Botanical Gardens in the north-west of the city is a favorite among children. It is home to around 50 types of animal, including many indigenous wild and domesticated animals. The gardens also have something to offer scenically: meadows, woods and water, as well as exotic and indigenous plants.

Theaters, Street Festivals & Other Events
For those of you with a weakness for theatre and opera, and street festivals, Wiesbaden is just the place. Here you can enjoy first-class equestrian sports event that includes not only dressage and show-jumping, but also the acrobatics on horseback and a procession of horse-drawn coaches through downtown Wiesbaden. The International Oldtimer Rallye of the Hesse Motor Sport Club Wiesbaden has been one of the highlights in the event calendar. Motor sports fans from all over Germany, European states and from overseas participate in this rallye that leads them through the picturesque Rheingau Region and Taunus Mountains.

For a first-class theatre experience you should not miss the International May Theatre Festival – the oldest theatre festival in Germany. Every year during the month of May, the most famous ballet companies, the best known orchestras and singers from around the world grace the stages of the Hessian State Theatre.

Another feast for the eyes and the ears are the exquisite street festivals, like the Wilhelmstrasse Fest, and the Taunustrasse Fest.

The Rheingau Wine Festival, spanning over one week, has earned a great reputation far beyond Hesse's borders and represents an attraction for more than ten million visitors. At about 100 stands, winegrowers present their products, both newly made and superior wines, as well as bubbly sparkling wines.

Wiesbaden is unparalleled in it's ability to attract the lovers of arts and culture. It's citizens get to enjoy the Sports, Concerts and Theater events. The bands playing in Wiesbaden are world class and invite and avid audience seeking world class fun. The numerous stadiums in Wiesbaden are a gathering place for the lovers of sports. The tickets to such events and also to the theater events in Wiesbaden are truly amazing.
