"I am visiting USA and wanted to see Rolling Stones in Chicago. Ticket Nest gave me the absolute best prices I could find anywhere on internet. There was an issue for shipping to Germany. Sam at Ticket Nest even spoke German, called back to Germany and didn’t give up until the issue was resolved. I just did not expect this level of service. Skegness
Skegness is one of the best places in the world to enjoy all the good things this world has to offer. Skegness has an awesome concert going population. Skegness does not lag behind in Sports or Theater either. Skegness, located along the coast of North Sea in the district of East Lindsey in the Lincolnshire County, is one of the famous seaside towns in England. The name Skegness suggests that it was settled during the Danelaw or Danish period in the history of England. The name is likely to be derived from Danish Language, and according to its modern meanings Skeg means beard and ness means nose. But when geographical meanings are derived from it, it ultimately means Headland. Headlands are those pieces of land whose three sides are surrounded by water.

The sediment particles of coast are carried to the southern part of the Lincolnshire coast by shore drift. Shore drift or Long Shore Drift is process by which sand particles are carried by the wind. As they reach the banks of Skegness the sand settles down and makes a landform known as tombolo, which is a thin piece of land linking the land to the mainland shore. This tombolo at Skegness forms a structure that kind of looks like a beard, which may be another reason of why the Danish word Skeg which means beard, is part of the town's name. As of the census report of 2001, the total population in Skegness is 18,910.

Originally Skegness acted as a fishing village and had a small port, but it was in 1875 when the railway system arrived in Skegness. August of 1642, is also significant in the history of Skegness as a shipment loaded with arms and money to support King Charles I in the Civil War, were forced into Skegness by Earl of Warwick's ships. Due to its Sandy attractive widespread beach and since the land belonged to Earl of Scarborough's, he thought of making it a holiday resort. From 1877, the resort was planned and the expansions were made gradually, but the resort faced the same fate as all of other UK's resorts and it was taken over by less expensive holiday packages that were offered in other countries specifically Spain.

However, UK's very first holiday camp was established in the village called Ingoldmells, which was cheap as well. The camp started operating in 1936 and it was started by Billy Butlin and started to be known as Butlin's. From 1936 till 1966, the count of the holiday camp reached to nine. But presently only three of them are being operated by the Butlin's company, which are located in Minehead, Bognor Regis and Skegness.

Skegness also had the fourth longest dock in England, whose length was 562 meters when it was opened in 1881. But unfortunately, it length ran short due to and accident which was caused by a ship that glided towards the dock and severely damaged it. The dock was re-opened in 1978, after twenty years of fund raising for it, however it wasn't fully repaired only the crucial part was done, but the force of nature stroked on it in the form of storm and damaged it yet again. Presently, after years of repairs dock is once again open to the tourists and attracts a huge number of tourists even though it's not as long as it used to be.

Presently, apart from attracting tourists because of its natural attraction, the beach of Skegness also provides the tourists with several other options to choose from. Other than entertainment complexes Skegness's Lumley Road that is the main shopping area of Skegness also tempts all those tourists who also happen to be the shopping enthusiasts.

The shopping area provides several choices to choose between several pubs, super markets and Fish and Chip shops. And for the tourists looking for rather economical shopping experience, seasonal shops are there to welcome them. Usually the resorts and coast of Skegness attract tourists from the nearby areas of Lincoln, Leicester and Nottingham, which usually belong from the working class and among the locals and the visitors Skegness is more commonly known as SkegVegas, Skeggy or Skeg.

Another specialty of the beach of Skegness that attracts a lot of tourists is the ride of the Donkeys of the beach. Apart from that a paddling pool known as Fairy Dell, also tempts a wide number of visitors, the affection of the locals and the visitors for Fairy Dell was shown when the district council shut it down due to health and safety matters in 2004. The locals and other enthusiasts of it raised their voice against the council's action and joined hands with press which is why the pool was re-opened with several enhancements in the pool on May 22, 2006.
