Biloxi
Biloxi is a city in Harrison County, Mississippi, U.S. As of 2000 census, its population recorded was 50,644. Biloxi is co–county seat with the larger city Gulfport, in the Gulfport-Biloxi, Mississippi Metropolitan Statistical Area, included in the Gulfport-Biloxi-Pascagoula, Mississippi Combined Statistical Area.
The beachfront of Biloxi lies directly on the Gulf of Mexico. On August 29, 2005, Biloxi was massively struck by full force Hurricane Katrina, with 30-ft storm surge. However, with national/military clean up, Biloxi began re-building soon, and 3 casinos re-opened in December 2005, and other hotels/casinos in 2006. The tree trunks survived the 30-foot flood, and since have re-grown smaller branches, as shade trees when rebuilding on the empty house lots.
