Lord of The Dance Tickets Information
Lord of The Dance
Lord of the Dance is a popular an Irish musical and dance created, choreographed, and produced by Michael Flatley. The music in it is written by Ronan Hardiman.
Background:
Michael Flatley became famous when he starred in Riverdance. He stopped acting in this show in 1995, just before it was going to be launched in London, following a disagreement regarding creative control.
Flatley desired to put together a dance show that would play in arenas rather than in traditional theaters. He started thinking of rhythm patterns and steps. He then created "Planet Ireland".
Performances:
Preview shows of the Lord of the Dance took place at the Point Theatre in Dublin [June 28 to July 1, 1996]. It was officially opened on July 2, 1996. The storyline follows the character "Lord of the Dance". Lord of the Dance fights against the evil dark lord "Don Dorcha". The evil dark lord wants to take control of the Planet Ireland.
The Lord of the Dance defeats the evil lord thanks to some help from a little spirit. One theme in this story is an on going battle between love and lust. "Saoirse, the Irish Colleen" battles for the love of the "Lord of the Dance". He battles with "Morrigan, the Temptress".
The Lord of the Dance performed at the Oscars [March 1997]. That same year in November, Lord of the Dance spread its operations by creating more dance troupes. These were to tour North America and Europe.
Flatley signed an agreement with Disney for Lord of the Dance, and they would perform at Epcot in Walt Disney World [summer of 1999]. Lord of the Dance was called back the following summer in 2000. It was Troupe 4 that performed at the Disneyland Paris Resort in 2002-03. Currently 4 troupes perform the Lord of the Dance productions.
Feet of Flames:
Following two years of touring, Flatley created Feet of Flames in July 25,1998. This is an elaborate version of Lord of the Dance. Feet of Flames used the dancers from groups they had, and reorganized them with more participants to make up around 100.
The stage up was 180 feet wide with multiple tiers. The show was performed before 25,000 people in London's Hyde Park.
The main aspect was a dance solo by Flatley that was performed without any music. This was to mark the last time that he would perform live on stage. The show would go on tour in 2000-01. The touring production was left with only one troupe. Michael Flatley went on to do the Feet of Flames World Tour, and also the Celtic Tiger.
Lord of the Dance still tours the world. Troupes 1, 2, 3 and 4 still perform in 2007. Michael Flatley currently dances in his latest creation, Celtic Tiger.
